The Counseling Center for Giftedness (Begabungspsychologische Beratungsstelle) is a neutral point of contact for questions and problems concerning children, their parents, teachers, and educators in the context of suspected giftedness. In addition to identifying giftedness, this also implies a wide range of intervention options for conditions such as ADHD, motivation and performance difficulties, and difficulties in the interaction between parents and their children, their teachers, or educators.

About Our Consultation
Consultation process
After you have contacted us by phone or email, we select suitable diagnoses and diagnostic and counseling procedures based on the information obtained from questionnaires. We then arrange a diagnostic appointment, during which we use diagnostic tests to assess the child's cognitive ability level, willingness to work hard, work behavior, and, if necessary, motivation and attitude.
During a separate counseling appointment, we will meet with the parents to discuss the child's social context, developmental history, and current situation in order to gain a comprehensive picture of their home and school life, their relationships with peers, their independence, and their sense of responsibility and self-control. We will address the parents' concerns and questions and work together to develop appropriate approaches to parenting and supporting the child in everyday life.Finally, based on the diagnostic findings, we discuss the consequences to be derived from them and further steps with regard to the current reason for consultation.
Costs & Donations
Our services (preparatory work, consultation, testing, and discussion of findings) involve personnel and material costs of around €350 per consultation appointment (for the complete package). A consultation appointment (without testing) costs €250.
We would be very grateful if you could help cover our expenses with a donation, as the university is unable to cover the costs incurred. Your donation will make a significant contribution to ensuring that we can continue to offer this service to parents and children, as well as for teaching and research in the field of giftedness and related issues.

Are you interested?
Please send us an email to beratung-hb@psy.lmu.de and briefly describe your request. Please also provide us with your phone number and indicate when we can best reach you by phone during the day. We will then coordinate a personal phone appointment with you by email as soon as possible or contact you directly.
During this short phone call, you can explain your request to us again in person and we will present what we specifically offer as part of our one-time consultation. You can then decide whether our consulting services are suitable for your needs and whether you would like to receive our registration documents. An appointment will only be made after the complete registration documents have been returned.

Our complete package for a consultation appointment with differentiated intelligence diagnostics incurs personnel and material costs of €350 per consultation appointment for consultation, testing, and discussion of findings, including a written report of the test diagnostics and discussion content. For a consultation appointment without testing, the costs amount to €250.
As Ludwig Maximilian University is unable to cover these costs, we rely on donations to continue offering our services to parents and children, as well as for teaching and research in the field of giftedness. We also want to help parents and children who cannot afford this counseling service due to financial constraints.
